The problem

I wanted a clean measurement of how fast a genuinely production-ready site could go from nothing to live — not a template dropped onto a host, but a real content site with analytics, search indexing and structured data all functioning on day one.

How I built it

1

Static-first architecture

Astro compiles to static HTML with no client-side framework, so pages arrive complete instead of assembling themselves in the browser.

2

Search infrastructure before content

Sitemaps, Search Console verification, robots rules and an llms.txt AI-crawler index were configured before the first article shipped — the reverse of the usual order, and the reason indexing started immediately.

3

Edge hosting

Cloudflare Pages, so the site is served from a data centre near the visitor rather than from one origin server.

The outcome

Concept to live site in a single day, with a perfect Lighthouse performance score and analytics recording from the first visitor. Everything most sites bolt on months later was already working at launch.

What I took from it

Most "slow" web projects are not slow because the code is hard. They are slow because infrastructure decisions get deferred. Making them first is what compresses the timeline.
